Equilibrium

Last night I watched again at home one of my favorite movies “Equilibrium.” It is not a very popular movie, I think it is not even a blockbuster like most movies but I like it for its story.  It is an era where society suppresses emotions or feelings because feelings like rage, jealousy and pride will one way or another lead to murder or war. Also they destroy everything that makes a man senses or feel like work of art such as painting, literatures, music, also things like perfume and even animals that only make for pets such as dogs. 

 There are times that the medicine that they use to suppress emotion could be an advantage especially if you really want not to feel.   I mean emotion alone is chaos. You have to suppress your emotion, such as anger, jealousy, grief and even love.   Not everyone knows how to do that so there lays the dilemma. Some people give in to anger; jealousy and some people give in to love. Do you agree that too much love is not a good thing?  Why do you think parents spoil their child? A parent does not realize it yet, until they become an accomplice to their child’s crime. If that child who is now an adult committed a crime, his or her parents would hide her/him or they could hire the best lawyers in the country. Again as parents we are in one way or another responsible for our children’s actions whether we like it or not.

All the emotions that we are feeling are what makes us what we are and we must not let it drive us.  We must be the master of our emotion.  If your loved one died, move on, don’t let grief take you. If your partner cheated on you, move on; don’t let jealousy and anger overcome you. Do you know that most of the murders committed are crimes of passion?

If your supervisor scolded you, don’t get angry or quit your job, learn from it. Quit your job only if it is no longer beneficial to you but never quit because of your supervisor. Accept the irony that you need them to climb up the ladder of success and their hurting words are part of the salary. The irony is you get paid to be treated that way. In the end you could be in her or his position and you already know what it feels like to be an underdog.

I know all of this is easier said than done.  That is why there are helpful activities for people who are not strong enough to control their emotions.  There is anger management for those who could not control their anger.  There is prayer to calm your nerves.  Yoga is a really great exercise; because It is calming and help you control your emotion and create a balance in your life.  One thing also it is hard to suppress anger so it is better to let it out in your exercises.  One helpful tip is you have to have a punching bag at home. Punch at it every night before you get to bed and unleash your anger at it. It is very satisfying especially if you have a mental picture of the person you are angry at. 

One important thing, I know how it feels like to lose someone you love in death, How it feels like to cry in grief.  Death is inevitable the only key is acceptance. Even if you have a time machine, you cannot change the past.  Your guilt or regret could not help you; it could only pull you back to grief. Accept and move on.

Extra help if you don't have a computer

I have a hard time at work because my computer got busted last month and until now it is not yet available for use. Our EDP dept. told me that the hard disk is already damaged and we need to buy a new one.  It is a relief that we had a computer at home because I just bring my work to encode in my computer.  When I really need a computer at work I just have to use my officemate’s computer but since they really have to use it for themselves I just use it when the work is really urgent.  It is kind of a stumbling block in my career well, a really big one because all of my files in the computer are gone.  This means I have to encode all of my files in my computer if the new hard disk is already installed.  This really means you just have to make a back up of all your files just in case this happens again.  It also helps if you keep a record book as well because it really comes handy if things like this happen. Maintaining a hard copy is also vital, especially the important documents that you need to keep for future reference.  It is just a load of work because you have to search manually if you need to find a certain document. Unlike if you store it in your computer all you need to do is to press control f to find a certain document in your records.  I just hope that my computer is already available for use because I really need it.  

Do you have any reoccurring dream?

I had so many reoccurring dreams and all of them have to do with being late for work.  I think that is my greatest fear ever.  I don’t like to be late and just thinking that I have to wake up an hour late from the usual would really torment me.  Imagine yourself sleeping peacefully and when you wake up you found out that you are and hour late.  I have this reoccurring dream and in my dream I would really think of something viable reason to tell my boss why I did not go to work.  I think this dream only signify that I needed my job and without it I would feel lost.  I think I could not imagine myself just being a plain housewife and wait for my husband and my children to come home.  I think my experience has taught me not to rely on someone.  I never really want to feel helpless, to rely on someone to give you money without making your own.  I think having a job or having your own source of income will give empowerment to you.

It feels so good to decide for your own when you don’t have to ask your husband to buy you something.  I think it is also in my nature to do something with my life because when you are married you just can’t rely on someone to get things done because it can be so depressing. You just feel your heart hurt because of your failed expectations.  Do you ever experience telling your husband to make some shelves so that you can arrange your things and how it feels to wait for the work to get done?  To lessen my failed expectations I just have to make it myself.  That is what it feels like to be a working mom.  I have to get out there in the rat race to get something done with our life.  It is so tiring to complain to your spouse and tell him his shortcomings because like him you are also capable to do something to improve your life.

Unleash your creative mind

I’ve just been thinking do you think life is fair? I’ve seen people who are very poor and in contrast I’ve also seen rich people living in the same neighborhood particularly on our new home. I cannot also say that all those people who became rich came from rich parents because that is not always the case. When I’ve heard and have seen people who have been down there and I’m quite glad that they have become rich because they can be a good example to those who aren’t. They are a living example that people can rise out of poverty.

Anyway in my opinion everyone is given a chance to improve their life. It is only in using the available resources and grasping the opportunity that comes our way that we can somehow improve our way of living. What I’ve written here seems to be so easy because everyday we come across resources and opportunities but not everyone can really recognize it. One example is the true story of a former barber who became rich because of his invention of a liquid solution that can remove skin warts for aesthetic purpose. Well, according to him, one day he just remembered her mother telling him that the cashew nut can scald the skin because its sap can create heat. This gave him an idea and the rest is history. Anyway to make everything clear you don’t have to get a degree to be rich, all you have to do is to unleash your creative mind to be able to create something that everyone can use.

Success could be luck and hard work

I’m kind of happy for my brother because right now he had already a regular job. I think I owe him an apology for my post last time. You could never really predict what happens with someone’s career and I’m just thankful that after how many years of working he finally got what he wanted. I think there is a time for everything and sometimes you are just there at the right time and sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes also you got unlucky but it would later turn out for the best.

I think not everyone believes in God but I do believe in him and I firmly believe that all things work together for those who love God and are called for his purpose. Whatever happens no matter how painful it is it will still turn out for the best Of course you will not know it now but you will just realize when that time comes that indeed it is true, you could never get where you are at if you have not experienced heartache or failure in the past.

My son is already 3 years and 4 months old and my baby girl is 10 months old, I could not say that I am content with my career because there is so much more that I still have to achieve. In acquisition of wealth I’m also not content with what we have right now because honestly there is so much more that we still have to acquire to live a modest and comfortable life. I’m also thinking of my children’s future.

Never Procrastinate

One significant attitude in our career is to do our job well and promptly and yet with precision. One attitude that I noticed in people who are successful is they aspire for perfection and they never settle for less. I also notice that educational attainment doesn’t ensure success but it only helps in aiding us to do our job better because of the necessary skills that we have learned in our studies. The most important thing is our attitude towards our job. It is when we aim for perfection and when we do what we can do for today in other words we should never procrastinate.

One important lesson I’ve learned in procrastination is that just this month I’ve already completed my Monthly report but since It is still not due I’m thinking not to print it during that time but since I wanted to be done with it I’ve decided to print it anyway. Thank God I did print it in advance because after the holidays my computer got busted and it turns out that my supervisor already asks for that report. Thinking about the horror it would cost me if indeed I did not print it ahead of time. I could only thank God I listened to my instincts. It was indeed an important lesson for me to never procrastinate.
