Equilibrium

Last night I watched again at home one of my favorite movies “Equilibrium.” It is not a very popular movie, I think it is not even a blockbuster like most movies but I like it for its story.  It is an era where society suppresses emotions or feelings because feelings like rage, jealousy and pride will one way or another lead to murder or war. Also they destroy everything that makes a man senses or feel like work of art such as painting, literatures, music, also things like perfume and even animals that only make for pets such as dogs. 

 There are times that the medicine that they use to suppress emotion could be an advantage especially if you really want not to feel.   I mean emotion alone is chaos. You have to suppress your emotion, such as anger, jealousy, grief and even love.   Not everyone knows how to do that so there lays the dilemma. Some people give in to anger; jealousy and some people give in to love. Do you agree that too much love is not a good thing?  Why do you think parents spoil their child? A parent does not realize it yet, until they become an accomplice to their child’s crime. If that child who is now an adult committed a crime, his or her parents would hide her/him or they could hire the best lawyers in the country. Again as parents we are in one way or another responsible for our children’s actions whether we like it or not.

All the emotions that we are feeling are what makes us what we are and we must not let it drive us.  We must be the master of our emotion.  If your loved one died, move on, don’t let grief take you. If your partner cheated on you, move on; don’t let jealousy and anger overcome you. Do you know that most of the murders committed are crimes of passion?

If your supervisor scolded you, don’t get angry or quit your job, learn from it. Quit your job only if it is no longer beneficial to you but never quit because of your supervisor. Accept the irony that you need them to climb up the ladder of success and their hurting words are part of the salary. The irony is you get paid to be treated that way. In the end you could be in her or his position and you already know what it feels like to be an underdog.

I know all of this is easier said than done.  That is why there are helpful activities for people who are not strong enough to control their emotions.  There is anger management for those who could not control their anger.  There is prayer to calm your nerves.  Yoga is a really great exercise; because It is calming and help you control your emotion and create a balance in your life.  One thing also it is hard to suppress anger so it is better to let it out in your exercises.  One helpful tip is you have to have a punching bag at home. Punch at it every night before you get to bed and unleash your anger at it. It is very satisfying especially if you have a mental picture of the person you are angry at. 

One important thing, I know how it feels like to lose someone you love in death, How it feels like to cry in grief.  Death is inevitable the only key is acceptance. Even if you have a time machine, you cannot change the past.  Your guilt or regret could not help you; it could only pull you back to grief. Accept and move on.

The Manny Pacquiao and Clottey fight

Last Sunday I watched Pacquiao and Clottey fight and I was kind of disappointed.  Manny did win after the twelve round but I was more disappointed on the performance of Clottey because he always covered his face. I think it would be great if he showed more of his moves than just covering his face. Anyway it was still wonderful knowing that once again a Filipino won the boxing fight it makes us proud. I think Manny will soon retire because I’m kind of afraid that he might hurt himself someday but it was still nice to see him still fight in the near future.  I think he is the best Filipino fighter of all time.  

I feel for Jinkee

Like all famous and rich people controversy is normal because it is price of being famous.  Manny Pacquiao is not an exemption.  Even If I am so proud to be a Filipino because of him I cannot tolerate him doing something like being unfaithful to his wife because as a woman and a wife I feel for Jinkee.  I hope that it is just a rumor and that there is no truth to it but I think there is no smoke if there is no fire so I hope it does not apply to this affair.  I think it is just okay if he spent an amount of money to let the starlet and her family stay in Las Vegas to see the fight but I hope she has not done something inappropriate for the favor he is giving her.

It is okay for a married man to admire someone other than her wife but it is entirely immoral if he will consummate his desire for her.  I could not possibly give Jinkee an advised about this because I know that if that will happen to me I would really feel devastated and I will cry like her and even without pretense even if everyone will see me because I would really care less.  I think Manny’s situation is really tough because even if he is not handsome women would practically offer themselves to him.  You know money and fame has a way with most women especially those who like the limelight and the good life. I hope he should value his family above all because that is what matters more than money and fame.

Whale shark dies in Manila Bay

Fishermen found the largest fish in the planet known as the whale shark dying on Manila Bay to read on the story click on the link above. Apparently they said that there was an offspring near the shark during the time they were towing it to shore. The coast guard said that there were no external injuries on the shark’s body. I think if that is the case then maybe it could be something else. The autopsy was performed and it was found out that there were plastic sheets and rusty nails inside the creature’s belly. Right now they were searching for the offspring of the whale shark to keep it safe from more danger. I pity the whale shark because I know it is a harmless giant shark and eat mainly plankton. I’m especially worried about its offspring which they said is only 2 feet long. In its young age it is already alone in the vast ocean. I hope it can find someone of its own kind. I hope this could be a lesson to urge everyone to clean and save the environment because the animals are suffering because of our mistakes.

Goodbye to former President Aquino

Sadly Former President Corazon Aquino pass away last Saturday Aug 1, 2009, but I think people had expected this to happen with stage 4 colon cancer only a miracle can make her live. No matter what she still lives not with us but within our hearts and she will be remembered forever because of the important role she took in giving back democracy to our country. She was he first woman president and the only one who run against the dictator President Marcos. She was also not a political person but a woman who runs for presidency for noble reasons and not for political agenda like most politicians. She was just a humble housewife who took the place of her slain senator husband to run against Pres. Marcos. Her courage should be a candle that burns every Filipino’s heart to be noble and patriotic to our country. I hope we could learn from her and hope that we will vote for the next president who has the same noble reasons, I hope a president who runs not for his or her own gain but for the country.

Butt augmentation done badly

Belo Medical Group has another pending legal case against them as another patient as a business woman, Josefina P. Norcio was admitted to the hospital for butt augmentation infection. Apparently, Norcio's buttocks swelled to 3 times its size on May 11 this year. Her lawyer said the infection was caused by the hydrogel butt implant material which seeped into other parts of the patient's body, nearly causing her death. Norcio paid P120,000 for her first butt augmentation surgery in 2003, but had to return in 2005 because her butt cheeks became uneven. It seems that the hydrogel material was banned from the U.S., Europe, and China, and was not approved by the Bureau of Food and Drugs in the Philippines. I think this news is really terrible because the public thought that Belo Medical Group is a trusted beauty clinic. This clinic was also endorsed by prominent showbiz personalities in this country. This only proves that in beauty procedures there are always risks involve and you’ll just hope that you are not one of those people who will get beauty disasters in the end.

Pres. Arroyo’s breast implant

Recently, on umagang kay ganda, a morning television show, I’ve seen Anthony and a columnist from Manila Bulletin discussed about the breast implant of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Last Monday the deputy spokeswoman said that the president’s breast implant back in the 1980’s was a medical necessity and was not spurred by vanity. I think the President has a right to do whatever she wants with her body as long as the expenses comes from her pocket. I also think that there are a number of reasons why women opt for breast implant procedures and one important medical reason is when one or your entire breasts are removed because of malignant tumors or cyst. The reason why women opt for reconstructive surgery is they want to feel normal. My grandmother, God bless her soul, has only one breast she lost the other because of cancerous cyst. I do think that if she was younger she would also opt for reconstructive surgery. I don’t really know what President Gloria’s reason is but let us just respect her rights and just understand why she needed those implants.

Goodbye to the King of pop

Michael Jackson, the legendary king of pop has finally bid goodbye to the world. When I was still in high school I have this close female friend that is really an avid fan of Michael. During that time my mother is a sales manager in encyclopedia books and I remembered that they have a brochure that mentioned the singer. I already know that Michael was already mentioned in their encyclopedia and I told my friend about it. She did not believe me because she thought only dead legendary people are recorded in the encyclopedia. So to prove to her that Michael’s life is already written in the book, I bring it with me in our school. When she saw the article in the encyclopedia she told me in awe that Michael is so great because he was already there even if he is still alive.

I'm watching Boys over flowers

I have another reason aside from my kids to go home early after work. Yes I’m watching Boys over Flowers, a Korean TV series which is an adaptation of the Meteor Garden of Taiwan. The origin of this story was a Japanese manga which was also adapted as a TV series in Japan. The story is about a girl of middle class family who was a scholar in a prestigious high school for the rich and famous and the group of rich guys a.k.a F4. The main genre of the story is drama, young love and relationship and a lot of humor. What I liked about in this story is that I got reminded of my teen years in high school and college. Goodbye Kiko

This month was indeed sad because we lost another talented singer in the Philippines, our master rapper Francis Magalona. I’m not really a fan but I’m one of the thousands who admired him. He is just too young and handsome to die at only 44 yrs old leaving behind his eight children. Leukemia, the killer cancer was the culprit it was just days before he will have bone marrow transplant but it turns out that he was too weak because he got infected with pneumonia and died. He died eight months after he was diagnosed with cancer.

He is leaving behind the showbiz world and memories of his songs that are mainly hip hop rap and commonly depicting patriotism to our country. He also loves photography and shirt designs. Among his hit songs is Mga Kababayan Ko and kaleidoscope.
